JIVE serves a huge community providing interferometric data studying some of the fundamental questions in astronomy and astrophysics along with geophysics. It is based in Dwingeloo in the Netherlands and operated as an EU ERIC, of which the UK is a full member. It primarily consists of computing hardware and software to enable the correlation of data from a global array of radio telescopes. In the UK, access is mainly via the e-MERLIN radio telescope network, based at the University of Manchester's Jodrell Bank. It serves a community of over 100 astronomers, providing a key utility to expand the coverage of e-MERLIN to global scales. Other partners include the NL, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Latvia, China and South Africa. It is a vital test-bed for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio astronomy facility to be built in South Africa and Australia.
