EPCC is the supercomputing centre at the University of Edinburgh. Established in 1990, it is the UK's National Supercomputing Centre in everything but name having hosted almost all of the UK's National HPC services over the past 30 years. Today it hosts the ARCHER2 National HPC service on behalf of EPSRC and NERC, the Research Data Facility, the CIRRUS Tier 2 HPC service on behalf of EPSRC, and the DIRAC service on behalf of STFC. It also operates the Edinburgh International Data Facility on behalf of the Edinburgh & SE Scotland City Region.
All of this infrastructure is hosted and operated from a state-of-the-art Data Centre, the Advanced Computing Facility, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. EPCC has 110 staff with around 20 focussed on service support and around 75 focussed on HPC and Data Analytics applications development and support. It has collaborates with researchers and centres worldwide.
