Royal Holloway offers creative businesses cutting edge innovation infrastructure to develop ground-breaking ideas, pilots and prototypes in collaboration with academic researchers. We are home to the StoryFutures Creative Cluster, and hosts a cutting edge immersive innovation facilities, as well as performance infrastructure, cultural archives, and information security labs. Immersive R&D - Immersive Lab: facilities to upskill creative professionals through our Labs programme (Immersive Storytelling, Virtual Production, 360 Audio, and more) - Travel kit for immersive and virtual production (cameras, laptops, green screen and other hardware) - A cutting edge Virtual Production studio will be available from early 2022 TestXR, our new audience testing infrastructure for VR and AR innovation projects - High-end audio platform for stereo and 3D audio production, incl. a control room with stereo speakers, a recording booth, and an Ambisonics-ready 3D speaker system - A VR Lab in Psychology for innovation and research activities Media/audiovisual - State-of-the art flexible digital TV studio with two 42? HD broadcast studio monitors, and a new 22 channel SoundCraft mixing desk. - Caryl Churchill Theatre has the latest audio-visual and lighting equipment, dressing rooms, showers and rehearsal spaces - The Boilerhouse is a versatile space designed for collaboration with a synthesis of multimedia technology in a unique Victorian building - The Music Department has dedicated facilities for composition and performance - Databases on recorded music, musical history and musical notation, and key performance archives - Our Picture Gallery offers an artistic collection and an invaluable resource on visual storytelling. Innovation support infrastructure A hot-desking scheme at StoryFutures enables creative SMEs to work in an R&D environment, creating collaboration and learning opportunities with researchers. Our new RH Innovation programme will offer start-up skills development for regional businesses, while our Enterprise Centre provides facilities for networking and meetings. Software and security infrastructure The Smartcard and Internet of Things Security Centre (SCC) Lab supports research into security, boasting a variety of IoT devices and analysis/inspection hardware. The centre is also in the process of setting up an autonomous vehicle and drone toolset.
