The Archives Hub brings together descriptions of thousands of the UK’s archive collections. Representing over 370 institutions across the country, it is an effective way to discover unique and often little-known sources to support research. New descriptions are added every week, often representing collections being made available for the first time. Researchers can use the Hub to instantly scan the archival landscape and bring together diverse sources held in repositories across the country. The Archives Hub is the result of an initiative to better support wide access to research collections and to enhance the UK’s research libraries and archives. Historians in particular find the Hub an essential tool for their research; postgraduate students find new sources and make new connections for their dissertations; educators take advantage of the Hub to introduce students to primary sources for their course work; and archivists and librarians can use the Hub in support of their work and in support of researchers. The Archives Hub fulfils a vital and unique function in revealing the incredible wealth of archives held within institutions, and in providing an interface between these resources and researchers and learners in the HE sector and the wider community
